During the late days of November in 1992 a giant star rose from high atop Roper Mountain and has grown to be the sign that Greenville's Lights Are On. The Buck Mickel star was one of the first and probably the most recognized of all of the displays that illuminate the night sky each year during the nights from Thanksgiving through December 30th. Founded in 1992, Roper Mountain Holiday Lights, an event
co-produced by the Rotary Club of Greenville and the Roper Mountain Science Center Association, has become a holiday tradition for family and friends throughout the Upstate and beyond.

With every passing year the show has continued to grow with the addition of new displays and landscape lighting. Some of the favorites are Frosty, Candy Cane Lane, the Candy Cane Factory, the Tunnel of Lights, and of course Santa.

Volunteers from the Rotary Club and the Science Center spend thousands of hours each year preparing for opening night. Displays are brought out in early September and made ready for their late November appearance. Proceeds from the event are shared between the two non-profit organizations and are used to benefit both education-based programs and charities in the Upstate.

We hope you enjoy the show this year and welcome you back in years to come.
